It meets Russell Square at the North end and Bloomsbury Square to the South - London’s oldest square which dates back to 1665.

Next door is the internationally renowned British Museum, which displays over 80,000 artefacts dating as far back as 5,300 years. Attractions such as the Wellcome Collection, Charles Dickens Museum, the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology and the Postal Museum are all also worth a visit.

Bloomsbury’s history lives on in its public spaces too. Monuments to Women’s Suffrage campaigners Emmeline Pankhurst and Millicent Fawcett as well as numerous blue plaques uncover the rich cast of figures who used to reside in these Georgian streets.

A short walk away is the bustling shopping and dining district served by stations such as Tottenham Court Road, Leicester Square and Covent Garden. A huge range of cafes, shops, bookshops, galleries, theatres and cinemas mean that you’re always spoilt for choice.

Where art and education meet.

Commonly regarded as the artistic and intellectual capital of London, Bloomsbury has hosted a huge number of academics and creatives over the course of its history.

In the 20th century the area became the namesake for the artistic circle that included Virginia Woolf, Duncan Grant, Vanessa Bell and Lytton Strachey who invigorated the world with their brilliantly creative works of art.

To this day, Bloomsbury is still situated as an educational magnet, with University College London, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London School of Economics and multiple colleges at the University of London sharing streets with American universities such as the University of California, the University of Delaware and Florida State University.
